(TYA) Theatre for Young Audiences:

Spark has been working hard over the last year to develop a Theatre for Young Audiences program.  This program is unique in that our older, more seasoned homeschooled actors have the opportunity to perform for public schooled students that come to Spark on fieldtrips!  Shows are geared toward younger kids but are performed at a high level.  We have also made plans to travel and perform these shows in schools as we are invited.  We will continue to seek opportunities to go out into the community to perform for children all over Houston.  Students will audition for TYA and will be selected in small groups to perform at minimal cost to the performers.  We have tentative performances planned but may be adding more performances throughout the semester as opportunities arise.  We have chosen the following selections for the fall semester.

The Fairy Tale Network:

The Fairy Tale Network is a television network that needs to improve its viewership ratings with exciting new programming.  The three mice working as creative consultants for the studio each must come up with a story idea to pitch to their new chief, the Cat.  And they need to pitch their ideas fast before they become a fancy feast!  They retell the well-known tales of Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Pigs, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears, but now with new, unexpected twists.  The crew of Busy Bees racing on props and sometimes even becoming the set pieces themselves makes this play fast-paced, super-easy to stage and fun!
